IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies, is the first industry consensus standard for cable and wire harness fabrication and installation. Classes of products are defined and include criteria for Target, Acceptable, Process Indicator and Defect conditions to support the collection of visual quality acceptability requirements for each class.
IPC/WHMA-A-620 describes acceptability criteria for crimped, mechanically secured and soldered interconnection and the corresponding lacing/restraining criteria associated with cable and harness assemblies.
An industry developed and approved program that includes training, certification and instructional materials based on the IPC/WHMA-A-620B is available to your company.

IPC/WHMA-A-620 training for Trainers or staff?
There are two levels of IPC/WHMA-A-620 training.
- To have your team able to apply the standard you need the Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) level.
- To take responsibility for your own training, at least one of your team must gain the Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) level to train and certify other staff. Any company with large number of staff who will benefits from IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge and certification my find it more beneficial to have a Certified Trainer to train and maintain its own employees.
We can also inform you about the so-called break-even point where it pays to train your own Certified IPC Trainer (CIT).
