ETECH operates worldwide and provides you with the right ESD-tools & Solutions, ESD-products and ESD-information as well as advice and counseling on “ESD-safe” implementation within specific environments according to ESD-Standards like the ESDA – JEDEC – ANSI – IEC – MIL – AEC STANDARDS.
Yield improvements of existing manufacturing processes are only good achievable if the entire process from beginning to end is brought into process mapping. After thoroughly studying the manufacturing process & carefully identifying the “problematic” area(s), our ESD consultant will get inside the bottlenecks and possibilities into efficiency improvements and can use know-how to contribute improvement proposals.
Periodic inspections guarantee the quality and reliability of an EPA. It is best to carry out an inspection by a third party. ETECH has the tools and knowledge to do this for you.
Maintenance of ESD protection equipment has become an important task as companies increasingly take ESD protection measures.
Maintaining ESD protection measures is an intensive task that is all too often neglected because this maintenance often requires more than 30% of normal maintenance tasks.
In addition, it may also be the case that you outsource part of your production activities to a subcontractor. Does your subcontractor have the ESD protection measures in order?
Do the ESD checks and the protective measures taken meet your expectations / requirements?
Let us take care of your ESD maintenance or subcontractors so that you can concentrate on other, more profitable activities.
• Saving in development & monitoring of an ESD control program.
• Saving of setting up an ESD training program.
• Saving on the calibration of ESD equipment.
• Savings in time and resources (no unnecessary protective equipment)
• The guarantee that your subcontractors are also checked for ESD and meet your expectations / requirements.
"Right first time" is one of the most important factors for the failure or success of an effective ESD control program.
Setting up an ESD safe workplace and the associated ESD control program is often a time-consuming affair; "How far will you go to take protection measures?"
Of course you do not want to exaggerate with taking the right measures, but you certainly do not want to take too few measures, because otherwise the ESD program might fail. And the ESD program must of course also remain workable for all employees.
With our "ESD workplace Set Up program", you can be sure that your ESD control program does not exceed the goal or does not fall short. By doing it right the first time you save thousands of euros per year
The correct choice of the type of ESD material is very critical. The only way to find out if the correct ESD materials are being used is to test the materials correctly.
In today’s workplace, the life and reliability of modern semiconductors require an environment where static electricity is continuously controlled.
Therefore, an ESD safe workplace (ESD Protected Area shortened EPA) needs to be maintained at all stages of receipt, storage, assembly, testing and transportation of electronic devices.
The appropriate selection of the type of ESD material is therefore very critical. The only way to find out whether proper ESD materials are used is to test the used materials in the right way. ESD materials used in an EPA, think of work surfaces and storage shelves, floors, chairs, wristbands, footwear, packaging materials, clothing, ionizers, etc., should contain a number of characteristics that can only be verified by measurements.
Too often materials are used or sold/purchased in the electronics industry, that not (any longer) meet the requirements ESD materials should have
Regular compliance verification checks and tests are essential to ensure that equipment remains effective and that the ESD control program is correctly implemented in compliance with the ESD control program plan.
It is highly recommended to have the audit carried out by an external auditor in order to guarantee an unprejudiced audit.
ESD audits are an essential part of a good ESD policy.
ESD audits are always based on an ESD policy program that is defined, approved by management and implemented at all operational levels. Such a program is usually based on an industry-recognized standard. The IEC-61340 is an excellent choice to use as the leading standard.
During the audit, all facets of the program must be checked to see if they are in accordance with defined procedures of the company. Any deviations must be registered and reported to the management. An ESD audit is a useful tool for detecting and analyzing problems in the workplace.
Every company is unique and will therefore have its own audit procedure, but certain aspects are part of every audit. The most important areas to be investigated are, among other things, the work area, condition of the workbench and floor and of course the general aspects of the ESD policy.
It is highly recommended to have the audit performed by an external auditor every now and then, in order to guarantee an unprejudiced audit.
ETECH can perform an ESD audit as an external auditor. We perform the audit in accordance with IEC-61340. All measurements are made and are based on the following IEC guidelines: 61340-2-3, 61340-4-1, 61340-4-5 and IEC-61340-4-9 and therefore also meet the IEC-61340-5- 1 and IEC-61340-5-2.
Because ETECH is not a supplier of ESD protective equipment and ESD products, we can perform this audit impartially. You will of course receive an ESD audit report with any recommendations and / or comments.
Modern Electronic Industries are obliged managing an “ESD-Control Program” as an integral but logical part of a complete quality program.
The International ESD Standards IEC 61340-5-1 & 61340-5-2 and ANSI ESD S20.20 state: ESD Training is an essential part of an ESD control program in order to ensure that the personnel involved understand the equipment and procedures they are to use in order to be in compliance with the ESD control program plan.
ESD Training is also essential in raising awareness and understanding of ESD issues. Without ESD training, personnel are often a major source of ESD risk. In fact, without an active ESD-Training-Program personnel put themselves and their customers products at risk. With ESD training, they become an effective first line of defence against ESD damage.
Relevant structured ESD training or courses must be provided for all personnel who handle, specify, procure, design, specify or determine ESDS aspect in any way, including supervisors and managers.
Special emphasis should be placed on training of personnel who are to undertake field work. Subcontractors, cleaners and temporary personnel need to receive awareness or appropriate training for their activities.
Visitors must be made aware of your local ESD handling procedures, ESD training is necessary!
Personnel need to be trained to employ effectively the materials, equipment and procedures provided in accordance with this technical report and to understand why electrostatic precautions are needed in order to have an effective ESD secured safety process.
